Finishing Press
Hard maple. Approximately 5-3/4" inches high. 14 inches between screws. Cheeks are 1-5/8" thick. The screws and handles are hand turned and threaded from a solid piece of maple. The front cheek is locked to the handle so the cheek travels with the screw as it turns. Screws are 1-1/4" in diameter at 4 threads per inch. Large diameter press screws with low thread counts are more costly to make but provide greater pressure and quicker adjustments than small diameter metal or other screws. With a little care wooden screws are quite durable and should last a lifetime.

Wove Papermaking Moulds
A quality mould and deckle made in the traditional manner with well seasoned Honduras mahogany frame members, clear white pine ribs, and brass screens. The bottom support screen is 4 mesh, and the top screen is 40 mesh.

The ribs are shaped to a gentle convex after the mould is assembled. Then all the wooden parts are treated with a long lasting wood sealer. All fasteners, staples, wire to attach the mesh to the ribs, etc., are either solid brass or monel stainless steel.

Vat Hog
If you work with a large papermaking vat this tool is much more efficient than using your arms, a paddle or an electric device to stir your vat. Use with a motion like a plunger. Creates so much turbulence in your vat it could agitate the Dali Lami.

The 9" disk is made from hard maple and reinforced around the perimeter with a soldered brass band. The 36" long hardwood handle is threaded so it screws into the disk.
